Biography

Pavel Florjančič was born in 1947 in Škofja Loka, Slovenia. He attended the School of Design in Ljubljana (Department of Applied Graphics) and later continued his studies at the Faculty of Education, Department of Art Education, in Ljubljana. From 1970 to 1975, he taught art at the primary school in Škofja Loka.
In 1975, he obtained the status of independent cultural worker – painter, and the following year received a work scholarship from the Cultural Community of Slovenia. In 1977, he was awarded a national scholarship from the Moša Pijade Fund for the Advancement of Fine Arts (Belgrade), which enabled him to pursue further studies in Paris. Since 1986, he has collaborated with Art Collection Gallery in Munich. He lives and works in Škofja Loka.
Pavel Florjančič is regarded as one of Slovenia’s leading representatives of photorealism and hyperrealism. Among painters from the Škofja Loka region, he is known for his exceptional technical mastery and highly distinctive style. His work reflects the artistic movements of the late 1960s and 1970s, marked by a precise understanding of form, light, and material.
While his paintings may evoke photographic clarity, they transcend mere imitation, transforming ordinary still-life scenes into profound reflections on perception and reality. His painter’s eye reveals subtle spatial and tonal nuances that often escape casual observation. Florjančič’s ability to render the intimate world of objects with such purity and focus gives his work a timeless, contemplative quality, recalling the dramatic tension found in classical landscape painting.
